They’re served with a creamy peanut-sesame sauce that’s spiked with even more ginger and garlic, which can be quickly whisked together while the chicken legs cook. Be sure to save any extra sauce; it will keep for a week in the fridge and is terrific with cut-up vegetables as a snack, or spooned onto roasted or fried tofu.By Melissa ClarkYield: 4 to 6 servingsTotal time: 45 minutes, plus at least 1 hour’s marinatingIngredientsFor the chicken:1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil2 teaspoons kosher salt (such as Diamond Crystal), plus more as needed1 teaspoon finely grated fresh ginger3 garlic cloves, finely grated or minced3 1/2 pounds bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs and drumsticks1 tablespoon grapeseed, safflower or other neutral oil2 scallions,...Man killed after being pinned between his own car, out of control driver’s car

OAKLAND – Right-hander Mason Miller’s return to the Oakland A’s following a four-month rehab process appears imminent, although it remains unclear as to when he’ll come off of the injured list and pitch in a big-league game again.Miller threw three perfect innings for Triple-A Las Vegas on Saturday as he struck out four and didn’t allow a walk in another strong minor league outing. A’s manager Mark Kotsay said Miller, “felt great coming out of the game. So, we’ll probably bring him back here and evaluate him and determine where he makes his next start.”Miller made his MLB debut for the A’s on April 19 and went 0-2 with a 3.38 ERA in four games before he came down with tightness in his right forearm in May. It was determined he had a sprain in his right ulnar collateral ligament, a diagnosis that allowed him to avoid surgery and potentially rejoin the big-league roster before the end of the regular season.Miller, who was transferred to the 60-day IL on June 30, made his first rehab s...2 injured after I-580 shooting, another vehicle struck by gunfire in Oakland

NEW YORK (AP) — Big-serving Ben Shelton moved into the quarterfinals of the U.S. Open on Sunday with a 6-4, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 victory over Tommy Paul, the second time this year he has gotten that far in a Grand Slam event.Shelton flexed his bicep to the Arthur Ashe Stadium crowd after match point when he avenged a four-set win by Paul when the Americans met in this year’s Australian Open quarterfinals. He did it by winning 75% of his first-serve points, blasting 16 aces and putting in two serves in one game recorded at 149 mph (239 km per hour).“I think it was straight adrenaline,” he told the crowd after the match. “Any other atmosphere I couldn’t get it done.”Shelton, a 20-year-old who won the NCAA singles title at Florida in 2022, becomes the youngest American man to reach the final eight at Flushing Meadows since Andy Roddick did it at the same age in 2002.Shelton next faces the winner of the match later Sunday between 10th-seeded Frances Tiafoe and Australian wild card Rinky ...Duke and coach Mike Elko see big opportunity in opener vs. No. 9 Clemson, the ACC’s perennial power

Duke coach Mike Elko sees the opener with No. 9 Clemson as a chance. But not an easy one.The Blue Devils are coming off a surprising 9-4 season in Elko’s first year and are looking for more, starting with Monday night’s season opener at home to wrap up a marathon Week 1 in college football. Beating a top 10 opponent, the defending Atlantic Coast Conference champion and favorite to win another this year would a great start.“They’ve accomplished as much as any ACC program has since the ACC has come together like this,” Elko said. “To get them in the opener, I think is an opportunity for our program. But it’s also a huge challenge.”Elko understands the Tigers, 11-3 last season, have skilled, capable players on both sides of the ball. Will Shipley is an all-ACC tailback while Cade Klubnik, who rallied the Tigers to their seventh ACC crown in eight year, opens his first full season as starting quarterback. The defense features potential All-Americans like Jeremiah ...Alerta roja en Madrid, España, por intensas tormentas

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Los Angeles Angels catcher Max Stassi has announced he will miss the entire 2023 season because of a serious family medical issue. The Angels placed Stassi on the restricted list Sunday after he informed them of his decision. Stassi left the team during spring training to deal with the family medical issue and to recover from a hip injury.Stassi told the team he is capable of returning to baseball activities now, but he is choosing not to do so. Putting Stassi on the restricted list means he won’t be paid the remainder of his $7 million salary for this season, a move that likely allows the Angels to get their payroll below the luxury tax threshold.“Out of respect for Max and his family, the Angels will not have any further comment,” the team said in a statement. “The Angels wish Max and his family all the best.”The Angels exceeded the luxury tax threshold with a flurry of moves near the trade deadline in an attempt to stay in playoff contention despite ex...Latest news
