ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - A judge has convicted a St. Louis County man in a shooting death that followed an argument over cars. Deonte Robinson, 25, was found guilty of second-degree murder and armed criminal action in the death of Sean Waldon. Sex offender banned from rec centers after FOX 2 tip According to court documents obtained by FOX 2, Waldon was entering his vehicle and planned to leave from the 9400 block of Miriam Avenue. At some point, he started arguing with Robinson over who had the faster vehicle, and it led to a physical fight. The encounter eventually ended with gunshots. "We see too many arguments escalate into physical fights and too many physical confrontations escalate into gun violence. Sean Waldon should still be alive, and I can only hope this guilty verdict brings some peace to Sean's family," said St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Wesley Bell. Close Thanks for signing up! National Move Over Day is this Saturday, and transportation officials and advocates are reminding drivers of their duty to slow down and move over for emergency vehicles on the side of the road.Drivers who do not move over for vehicles with their lights flashing put first responders, tow truck drivers and others at risk of serious injury or death.Frank Orozco, owner of Goldline Towing in Ventura County, learned that lesson firsthand when he was hit on Feb. 4 while trying to help a stranded AAA member on the 101 Freeway, the organization pointed out in a news release."Helping stranded drivers on the side of the road should not be one of America’s most deadly jobs, but it is," the release added. "On average, two emergency responders, including tow providers, are hit and killed every month. Roadside crashes are notably deadly for tow workers. Government data shows that tow providers are killed at a rate of almost 43 deaths per 100,000 workers, compared to just three for all other indus...

Silicon Valley tech CEO sentenced to 8 years in prison following COVID and allergy test fraud scandal

Published Fri, 21 Feb 2025 18:10:48 GMT

The former CEO of a Silicon Valley-based tech company was sentenced to eight years in prison after lied about his company’s ability to test for COVID-19 — in a manner similar to the claims that landed former Theranos CEO Elizabeth Holmes behind bars, according to federal prosecutors. While heading up the Arrayit Corporation, Los Altos resident Mark Schena, 60, defrauded investors through his claims that he created a “revolutionary technology” by inventing medical tests that could diagnose virtually any disease through a single drop of the patient’s blood. Schena’s sentence was announced in a news release from Ismail Ramsey, the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of California.Prosecutors said Schena and his publicists falsely told investors that he was the “father of microarray technology,” that he was on the shortlist for a Nobel Prize and that his company could be valued at $4.5 billion.Schena was unsuccessful in an attempt to develop a COVI...

By Sharif Paget | CNNA State Department official has resigned from the agency over the Biden administration’s approach to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, the official announced on LinkedIn Wednesday.Josh Paul, who said he has worked in the Bureau of Political-Military Affairs for more than 11 years, said in his LinkedIn post that he resigned “due to a policy disagreement concerning our continued lethal assistance to Israel.”“Let me be clear,” Paul wrote. “Hamas’ attack on Israel was not just a monstrosity; it was a monstrosity of monstrosities. I also believe that potential escalations by Iran-linked groups such as Hezbollah, or by Iran itself, would be a further cynical exploitation of the existing tragedy. But I believe to the core of my soul that the response Israel is taking, and with it the American support both for that response, and for the status quo of the occupation, will only lead to more and deeper suffering for both the Israeli and the Palestinian people ...
