The 49th annual TubaChristmas 2023 took place at the Sculpture Park outside of the Denver Center of the Performing Arts in Denver on Dec. 17, 2023.Hundreds of tubas, euphoniums and other low-register brass instruments helped to spread holiday cheer under sunny skies and warm temperatures. The event was part of the TubaChristmas 2023, a nationwide series of free concerts performed by local, volunteer musicians who play tubas, euphoniums, sousaphones, baritones and other brass instruments.Conductor Bill Clark joked that two tons of heavy metal took part in the concert. The very first tuba Christmas took place 50 years ago at Rockefeller Center in New York City. This is the 49th year for the event in Denver. Authorities with the National Transportation Safety Board announced on Sunday that a single-engine plane that crashed Saturday, killing one person aboard, was an “experimental homebuilt vans RV-8" aircraft. The crash occurred around noon near the intersection of Auburndale and West Rincon streets, the Corona Fire Department tweeted on X, formerly Twitter. Video of the scene captured by independent news agency OnSceneTV showed the plane collided with a tree. The crash sparked a small vegetation fire that was extinguished, fire officials said. (KRON) -- A person died after a car crash Sunday afternoon on the westbound lanes of CA-84 in Newark, according to California Highway Patrol's incident log. The crash happened around 1:22 p.m. in the area of Ardenwood Historic Farm and CA-84 where a car spun out and crashed.CHP says multiple people were inside the vehicle. The condition of the vehicle's other occupants is unknown. 1 hospitalized after Amtrak train crashes into car in Oakland Two westbound lanes were temporarily shut down. As of 4 p.m., all lanes have reopened on CA-84. A coroner from Alameda County was called to the scene.
