Lucky for us, it’s always fun in the sun down here in South Florida. Sometimes to get to the beach, you have to lug so much stuff. Well, a new spot just opened in Fort Lauderdale that might help with this problem.Surf’s up, dudes and dudettes!Surfing might look easy, but if you get wiped out, your confidence is destroyed.Lucky for you, there’s now a stable option in SoFlo.Skye Bailey,: “A lot of people say, ‘I can’t balance on a board,’ try a BOTE board. You feel like you’re almost floating on a mattress, so you’re not going to anywhere.”I’m sorry, how do you say that again?Skye Bailey: “So it’s pronounced ‘boat.’ It’s kind of a play on words with, you know, like taking your boat out on the water. Column: Chicago White Sox are trying not to panic after a mind-numbing series against the San Francisco Giants

The Chicago White Sox were in town long enough to unpack, get a nice meal, serve up 13 home runs to the San Francisco Giants, give infielder Hanser Alberto two relief appearances and lose two games in embarrassing fashion in front of their fans. After the briefest of homestands, the Sox packed up after a 16-6 loss to the Giants and got on a plane to Pittsburgh to start a six-game trip.If the Sox were a dating app, they’d be a quick “swipe left.” And if first impressions are lasting, this team is deep trouble. We saw enough this homestand to discover manager Pedro Grifol has no problem sticking with struggling starters or sending the same position player out to the mound twice in three days to save his bullpen. We saw Andrew Vaughn and Tim Anderson chirping at Giants pitchers who had the audacity to retire them. We learned Anderson getting himself ejected early in Wednesday’s game was OK with Grifol because he was showing “passion,” and that starter L...

Tennessee’s House expels 2 of 3 Democrats over guns protest

By KIMBERLEE KRUESI and JONATHAN MATTISE (Associated Press)NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — In an extraordinary act of political retaliation, Tennessee Republicans on Thursday expelled two Democratic lawmakers from the state Legislature for their role in a protest that called for more gun control in the aftermath of a deadly school shooting in Nashville. A third Democrat was narrowly spared by a one-vote margin. The split votes drew accusations of racism, with lawmakers ousting Reps. Justin Jones and Justin Pearson, who are both Black, while Rep. Gloria Johnson, who is white, survived the vote on her expulsion. Banishment is a move the chamber has used only a handful times since the Civil War. Most state legislatures possess the power to expel members, but it is generally reserved as a punishment for lawmakers accused of serious misconduct, not used as a weapon against political opponents.Jones, Pearson and Johnson joined in protesting last week as hundreds of protesters packed the Capi...
