AUSTIN (KXAN) — In a memo sent Friday, Interim City Manager Jesus Garza addressed concerns about Austin Animal Center.AAC, the designated municipal shelter for the City of Austin and unincorporated Travis County, provides shelter to thousands of animals annually, as well as provides animal protection and pet resource services, according to the memo. ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The second of two defendants in the Chyna Forney murder case has been sentenced. Defendant Alvin Foy III was sentenced to 25 years to life for being one of the two gunmen that fired 31 shots into a crowd of people in May of 2021. 18 year old Chyna Forney who was in that crowd and was not the intended target, was shot and killed during the incident. Forney was just weeks shy of her high school graduation. “She was a person with an authentic soul, a beautiful personality, a loving daughter, caring sister…” said Nazarey Forney. LOUIS - The St. Louis Board of Aldermen gave unanimous approval Friday to the final wording of a bill that would require individuals open-carrying firearms to have a concealed carry permit.The board will hold a final vote on Board Bill 29 next Thursday. JEFFERSON COUNTY, Mo. - Rockford Beach Park and its river access will be closed to visitors for a second straight weekend as authorities continue with efforts to address public safety concerns.The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office will have a deputy at the entrance of the park to prevent visitors and traffic through Sunday evening. He will not need surgery, and although he was placed on the 15-day injured list, he’s expected to pitch again this season. At least one structure was destroyed after a brush fire broke out in Moreno Valley Friday and volunteer evacuations are in place, officials said.The blaze was first reported in the 900 block of Reche Canyon road in an unincorporated area of Moreno Valley, according to Cal Fire.The fire quickly grew from 5 to 50 acres before firefighters said it had burned 160 acres by 2:50 p.m.A burro grazes as flames get dangerously close during the Reche Fire in the Moreno Valley area on July 14, 2023. Four Los Angeles police officers were hospitalized Friday afternoon after being exposed to some sort of narcotic during a call about a family dispute in Hyde Park.The incident was reported around 1:30 p.m. near the intersection of Southwest Drive and 4th Avenue, according to the LAPD.Responding officers determined there was a restraining order against one of the family members involved in a dispute and backup was called because that person was in violation of the order, Officer Drake Madison told KTLA.The officers were somehow exposed to an unspecified narcotic and taken to a hospital in good condition, LAPD said. Aerial video from Sky5 showed several LAPD and Los Angeles Fire Department vehicles at the scene.
